Award winning Djeli Chinyere one of Britain’s finest storyteller's and oral traditionalist challenged herself to do what she has to do in order to do what needs to be done. Along with the ancestors, her spirit guides and the creator she walked 100 miles along the South Down Way. This melanin rich original indigenous woman whose DNA is at least 4 million years old started her walk on Monday 1st June 2015 she gave herself 9 days and felt she may finish earlier. Such optimism!

Djeli Chinyere used the whole 9 days to walk the 100 miles. It was tough walking up a hill and then down a hill and then up again and then down again and carrying everything on the back. And it was everything. The tent, the clothes, the shoes, cooking facilities, the battery charger, all the food and water for 9 days. Yes that was one heavy piece of luggage. The heaviness of the rucksack slows down the pace. The ability to move one foot in front of the other is significantly decreased. It speeds up the breathing but the trick is to slow the breathing down under such circumstance. The aim to fill the lungs as much as possible with each deep inhalation. The exhalation needs to be a steady controlled sigh. This kind of breathing syncronises the frequency with the divine spirits of Mother earth's environmental rhythms. This kind of quality time and practice in nature, leads to the risk of communicating with the soul of the cosmic network. The language of nature becomes coherent and clear, allowing ancestral knowledge to rise from within the DNA to guide the healing.

The Nne Agwu Afrakan storytelling festival being such a unique event in our community makes it an important event for Shanti-Chi. Anyone who knows Djeli Chinyere, knows she loves walking, she loves nature, she loves stories, however this was no walk in the park. It was a major challenge; To wake up every day, day after day for 9 days and walk 8 hours a day, spending much of the day in the company of the natural environment. Somedays there was nobody to meet and there was nobody to talk to. Djeli Chinyere did the 100 mile sponsored walk and raised £3300, much needed funds for this essential cultural event. All funds went toward the production of the Nne Agwu Afrkan storytelling festival. This kind of work is a big deal.

Please continue to support her inspirational efforts, get out of the box and sponsor/donate to the vision NOW!

Djeli Chinyere took pictures and kept a diary along the way, even did some drawings of what she saw so she can remember and document this major challenge to share the ups and downs of this journey with you on her return. Your support helped her to overcome night time fears, sleep in a field with a bull, walk 8 hours in the pouring rain, trust the ancestral spirits to protect her. She hopes her experiences have inspired you to take up walking with mother of all wisdom as a healing pass time. Thank you for your generous giving to help, build an everlasting legacy which can be passed on to future generations.

Thank you!!!
